Welcome to my Book review of Randall Munroe's What if? & How To.

Home Page

General Overview

These books seem to fall into the genre "Non-fiction Humour" [if that is a genre.] But to summarise, you'll learn interesting things while reading a comical instance of the person acomplishing that task. [This is very simmilar to the xkcd webcomics that he makes in that style, but published in a book.]

My Thoughts

I believe these books are simply exellent. The questions asked by his fans are answered in detail by Randall, alongside some funny illustrations. I also like it when you have that feeling of acomplishment when finishing a chapter, and then you can immediately tuck into the next little nugget of science. I also enjoy the "Worrying questions from the what if? inbox" which features questions that were a bit concerning but not answered.

Conclusion & Rating

Overall, I believe that these books truly deserve a 10/10 for their amazing casual yet informative content full of a delightful blend of science and comedy that easily entertains.

Note:

The books are hard to describe, they are written in a personal & casual tone, but still effectively teach you about science.
